Workforce Implementation Project

In 2023, the Remote Accord launched the Workforce Implementation Project with support from the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing. Partnering with communities and stakeholders in three remote regions, we developed and trialled place-based reforms to strengthen and sustain local workforces. Along the way, we explored the unique challenges of driving change in remote Australia, with the aim of sharing our learnings to support others working in similar contexts.

From 2022 to 2025, we worked alongside remote communities and stakeholders through our Workforce Implementation Project. This report shares the stories, lessons, and insights we gathered along the way.

The Aged Care Workforce Remote Accord Implementation Project: Toolkit

As part of the Workforce Implementation Project, we’ve developed a practical toolkit to support anyone working in or alongside remote communities. The toolkit provides simple, adaptable resources to help put reforms into practice and navigate the unique challenges of delivering change in remote settings. Each tool has been shaped by real-world experience, making them relevant, flexible, and ready to use. The toolkit is completely free, offering open access to practical guidance for service providers, community organisations, and policymakers committed to strengthening care in remote Australia.
